A Date with a Doctor : Unforgettable.....

This is one small incident, that i had to be a part of in the last weekend. I had an appointment with a dentist for a small scaling process and reached the hospital at 11 am.

The scene at the waiting hall. I was surrounded by a few interesting people. One was a old man in his late sixties, a little girl in her early teens, the girl's mother and a couple in their fifties.

All of a sudden a noise 'Nahi Nahi mujhe nahi karwani hai....mujhe jaane deejiye ..... please, mera dant teeek hain......please uncle, pleaseee.......' all look at each other in the face. The next voice you hear is a voice of a concerned doctor," Nahi beta kuch nahi hoga..... bas do minute ka kaam hai'.

Little Girl: Nahi mujhe woh needle nahi dalna hai. Mujhe jaane deejiye please.

Doctor: OK, abhi needle nahi use karronga....ok, abhi chilana nahi.

Doctor to one of his helper's, in kannada " Hold her hands and feet and allow her not to shake". All of a sudden you hear a loud noise again," Uncle mujhe jaane deejiye please, Paapa mujhe kuch nahi hua hain, jaayenge yahan se please paapa, pleasee'.

Its dad's turn to console the little darling. He starts of discussin in a very considerate manner telling her 'Beta tum ice creams nahi kha paogi, choclates bhi band ho jaayega, dekhlo tumhara marzi'.

Dad is helping the doctor now. The scene outside was getting a little difficult too to handle. People around were looking at each other's face and controlling themselves. In between this I notice a lady seated a little behind all the others and holding her hands tight and reciting small prayers. Yes, the guess is right it is the mother of the sweetheart inside. The mother was very restless and that's it; come what may she would never give up on the little one. Thats a MOTHER for you.

Others in the room: the mother and daughter outside, the mother slyly looks at her daughter; sitting to her right and gives a smile; "My dear, your near.... its your turn for all the mischief you do" kind of a look, although it was just meant to be a teaser.

In enters another patient accompanied by her son. The son was tall and slim and had a moustache that was extended and cut short before growing into a French Beard. The guy was standing as at the doorstep, as there were no seats left .

Now one more squeel and guess what the little girl has bitten the hand of the lady doctor in the room. The girl's father now loses patience and asks her, 'Kya kar rahe ho....' and you can listen to the cries of the girl. Now the incident gets a little funny, not because the girl is creating so much trouble, but for the next few words that she utters. "Paapa kabhi trouble nahi karungi paapa, kuch nahi poochungi, aap jaise bolenge waise hi karoongi paapa.... please paapa mujhe le jaao". Dad starts to console "Beta 2 minute aankh bandh karlo, kuch nahi hoga" and finally the tooth is uprooted.

Up goes a roar in the doctor's room and everyone tries to console and a cotton bud is stuffed into the place where the tooth was uprooted. The girl starts to cry again and again the doctor tries to keep the girl quiet," Abhi ho gaya, aur kuch nahi, rona mat beta". The girl continues to cry and doctor to the girl's father " Let her cry nothing will happen".

The guy who came with his mom, couldnt stop himself from laughing and controls with a lot of difficulty and just walks out of the room.

Doctor goes on to make his bill, while the dad is still inside and the girl jumps out of the consultation room; as if she's getting out of a dragon's den. Now, the scene to imagine is not very difficult; but there is small twist in the script. The girl sees her mother and as usual starts to cry. But, mom who was all this while praying and tensed doesn't try to console or hug her. She baldly looks at her and tells," Uncle phir se andar bulayenge rone par". I couldn't control my laughter in the next scene, the little girl is staring away at her mom. In her mind, you my mother; no little concern after all that you have heard sitting here; as she wears her sandals.

Now, dad comes out and tells," Aunty ko sorry bolo". The girl in her sweet little tone, "Sorry Aunty". This cute little girl, was in a nice blackcurrent ice cream colored tees and a blue jean; a sweet innocvent face. Listening to all that she confessed in front of the dentist, she's not that very silent at home'.

Anyway, it was a incident very funny for all the others outside; for what the little girl was confessing. All of us felt bad for the pain she had to under go. Never the less, if you are a parent with a child in their 5 - 10's then a nice idea to keep their mischief at check.

Hats- Off to the doctor's. It is indeed very difficult to handle kids and even more as they are so very sweet. It takes a lot to complete your work, in such circumstances.

First Attempt In Life Under Revived Energy

First Attempt In Life Under Revived Energy.

There have been loads of speeches already made about success and how to attain success. A concept that rarely understood, if you haven’t seen a failure in life. A failure in life is not a sin. A failure, is simply an attempt unaccomplished.

Now read only the first letter of each word of the title.... Yes, the topic is Failure.

Newton’s failure of understanding that just an apple fell on his head; led to Newton’s Laws.

A simple failure of having dropped sulphur to rubber led to vulcanization.

The concept of failure is ‘Subjective’ word, used in a very ‘Relative’ term.
We haven’t seen many success stories that is born without past failures.
The energy and the burning desire of having to walk in a child starts from falling at the first step it takes. The ability to hit your hands and legs hard and to survive comes from the failure of inability to breathe under water. The idea that comes brink of death is the stronger than an idea thought-out in a whole life time under easy circumstances.

Instances of day to day life show us. Look at the RCB hero of the IPl2 ‘Manish Pandey’ who had plans of reaching the army, his second choice after cricket; did wonders for the team. The idea behind Manish’s innings under the circumstances would have been just to play his heart out as he might never get another chance to play at the top, if he never relishes it now. The desire of succeeding in the process came alive and we saw a 19 year old, bring his dreams alive.

It is easy to point out at someone else’s mistake and say something could have been done in another way. Failure brings an individual to this stage and asks him to carry out a journey and review the mistakes and bring the right actions in the path to success.

The journey begins from a series of failures and people calling of the person incapable at doing his job and almost having written him off. The episode of ‘Zanjeer’ brings to helm an actor, a name today celebrated in Indian Cinema ‘Amitabh Bachchan’. The journey started with Zanjeer went on to provide a series of hits of the eighties and early nineties like Deewar, Zameer, Sholay, Don, Mukaddar ka sikaddar and the rest is his history.

But the story does not stop there as they say history repeats in the year 2000, with Amitabh Bachchan’s second innings rising like a phoenix after the failures of the Miss Universe contest and ABCL. The world saw a new beginning of Amitabh Bachchan with famous reality talk show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’; and the man reviewed himself from the debts to a crorepati. Kaun bana yeh to thoda bhool bhi sakte, lekin Amitabh ka second innings kabhi nahi. This followed by strong performances in Mohabbatein, Veer-Zaara, Black and the story of this strong 63 old grows enviable by the growing days and creates a lasting impression on the youth of the day, taking to suicides at failures.

The work that led to this amazing act, long after passing the prime by Mr. Bachchan was the intensity to work and the desire to stay there at the top, as Baadshah of bollywood. Yash Chopra once quotes saying, after a time when ABCL had not fulfilled its expectations and Amitabh was down, it was Mr. Bachchan who gave me a ring one day, telling he was ready to work again. If a man of his stature can give up the thought of me of having been a greatest star and go ahead and ask for work, there is no other example to say that its only your work and dedication that can save you at the end of the day.

Life as it present’s, is no bed of roses to anyone; neither the king nor to the slave. Everyone has their share of joy and sorrows. Happiness can be reaped from piece of paper for a child, where as several bundles of the same colored and with a price tag on it can’t still make us as satisfied and happy as a child. In the attempt to satisfy every little thought that is driven by the brain, we lose the happiness of the moment.

The opportunities presented by life are usually in the form of a gift that needs to be unwrapped, the unwrapping part is the opportunity and the sweetness of success is presented as an accomplishment. The opportunity is presented in various forms, most times than not; are in the form of failures.

This was a man who failed in business at the age of 21 ; was defeated in a legislative race at age 22; failed again in business at the age 24; overcame the death of his sweetheart at age 26; had a nervous breakdown at the age of 27; lost a congressional race at age 34; lost a senatorial race at age 45; failed in an effort to become vice-president at the age 47; lost a senatorial race at age 49; and was elected president of the United States at age 52. No guesses indeed, yes it is the American President ‘Abraham Lincoln’.

Was this all opportunity, how many of us of today would be ready to go through all the turmoil, to reach the gift of being a President of America and indeed the most loved one; which is even more precious? When things are tough, friends; its not that things are just wrong, its just that we are pushing aside the sand to find the Gold. So, keep pushing aside, as long as the life doesn’t stop you from searching for Gold.

A step to failure and a step to success is just a narrow margin as 49% to 51%, which determine on which half of life you stay. A vision and hunger to win, will show the path to success.

Let’s date back a few years to a renowned story of our school days, ‘Davis and the Goliath’. As all of us know David was not a huge strong person, or no where close to the Goliath. But, there is one more important factor to consider the fact that David was as much a common man, as all the others in the village.

Where was the difference, it was all in the attitude. The attitude of a man and not the aptitude determines the rise of a man. At the juncture of
A defeat or a failure if a man desires the change into success is not difficult. The time taken to attain success is equivalent to the burning desire to reach there.

Once a young boy reached Socrates and starts, ‘You are recognized as one of the great scholars and a great philosopher, can you please tell me the path to succeed in life’. Socrates asked the boy to come back the next morning to the banks of river Thames and the boy was there prompt on time. Socrates took the boy into the water with him and all of sudden pushed the boy’s head into water and kept it there, till the boy’s own force was enough to push Socrates and come out. The boy was in rage and asked Socrates what he was trying to do, Socrates replied asking him, ‘How badly did you need oxygen when you were under water?’. The boy replied, ‘Very much, or I would have died’. Socrates replied ‘That’s the secret of success, it comes to you only when you need it as badly as oxygen to breathe’.

The key word is preparation.
